Art Philosophy
What I feel makes art so important to me is that it helps provide a path to express creative ideas a person can demonstrate visually. I think what drew me to art as a whole was seeing a variety of methods and techniques to create something in one’s own personal image. While my interests lie more in cartoon art, the concept of art overall is what I consider the driving force of my life. Art has helped me channel a creative outlet for my ideas; leading me make what I enjoyed most and wanted to see more of in the art world. The reason I would like to have art as something I would do for the rest of my life is that I felt more comfortable with it as a hobby to eventually make a career of in the future.
The visual representation of the art itself is what brings works such as writings to life. For providing a path for expressing creativity and ideas, art can also present an image of how someone might feel about something personally whether it’s a public or private issue. Those who may not be able to say how they feel with words may turn to art to have their voice heard through visual means.
Art was something I saw that could be made in various forms with multiple interpretations. Considering all the materials that exist now, there is no limitations on what can be created which opens more creative ideas for future artists. Over time I noticed that any art created will have a reaction following it; sometimes for the intended purpose of getting the audience to think of the work, what it represents, and what was used to make it happen. What I also find interesting about art is that it does not always have to be conventional and can sometimes be controversial to challenge boundaries.
Making art was a skill I got attached to at an early age and while it was not my first choice, it was one that got me to realize what I wanted to invest more time in. I grew up with artists in my family which gave more reassurance in my decision to pursue art. Though what I created from childhood to the present is on the cartoon side, I was inspired by what I would see on T.V. and other forms of media. There were certain types of themes and characters I did not see represented in the media growing up and wanted to incorporate what I wished to have seen in my art.
In closing, art is important to me for helping express an individual’s creative ideas visually. There are many unique ways to make art which do not have to always follow social standards in order to be acknowledged. I enjoyed making art as a child and felt it was the right passion for me. Art motivated me not just for my own creativity but also for what I wanted to do as a career of a future animator.
